Following a volatile ride through their 2024-25 campaign, the end of the Miami Heat’s season was nothing short of embarrassing - even to the point that former franchise legends have taken notice as well.
The Heat, who finished the year at 37-45 before snagging the final slot in this year’s postseason picture with a pair of play-in wins, were swept by the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in round one. This came in spite of Miami All-Star guard Tyler Herro’s bold prediction after game three that his team would not go down 0-4.
His comments have since drawn widespread mockery and laughs from across the Internet, with even former Heat superstar Dwyane Wade chiming in as well.
“When I heard Tyler Herro say ‘We will not get swept,’ I was like, ‘Y’all already swept,’” he said.
Herro didn’t do himself any favors with his performance in game four, either. The Miami guard finished the day with just four points on a 1 of 10 clip from the field. In a series where his defensive efforts had already been called into question by Cavs guard Darius Garland, Herro’s disappearance on the offensive end as well all but sealed the Heat’s fate.
The only question that remains now in South Florida is how the Heat will move forward — and in turn, what role Herro will play in their future. Despite having fought off annual offseason trade rumors since his arrival in Miami six years ago, Herro looks to be staying put for the time being, although the pieces around him may be subject to some shakeups this summer.
