Two-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion Jason Richardson has found his next home, and it happens to be a familiar one. The former high-flyer announced this offseason that he will join the Denver Nuggets as an analyst for the upcoming season, stepping into a broadcast role with an organization and a city he has long felt tied to.
For Richardson, the move is less about a fresh start and more about a return to a place that has always felt like home.
“I’m excited to officially announce that I’ll be joining the Denver Nuggets as an analyst this season,” Richardson said on X, formerly Twitter. “Denver has always been a special place for me and my family. We’ve built so many lifelong friendships here and have always considered Colorado home. To be back in Denver and now have the opportunity to be part of the Nuggets organization makes this next chapter even more meaningful. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started. See you this season Nuggets fans!”
Richardson carved out a memorable 14-year NBA career after entering the league as the fifth overall pick in the 2001 draft out of Michigan State.
Known for his explosive athleticism and highlight-reel finishes, he captured back-to-back Slam Dunk Contest titles in 2002 and 2003, cementing his place as one of the most electrifying dunkers of his era. Over his career, he suited up for the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Bobcats, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, and Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 17.1 points per game across more than 750 appearances.
His transition into the analyst chair marks the latest step in a growing post-playing career in media, and it lands him alongside a Nuggets franchise fresh off some of the most successful seasons in its history. Fans in Denver will now get to hear Richardson break down the game he once dominated in the air.
For a player who always considered Colorado home, the pairing feels like a natural fit, one that adds a familiar and respected voice to the Nuggets’ coverage this season.
