Terry Rozier landed in hot water following some serious gambling accusations. Such a development also led the Miami Heat to make some serious decisions regarding Rozier. Already slapped with some critical charges, the 32-year-old star now faces some new allegations that might make his situation worse.
Rozier was a hot asset during the last trade deadline. Unfortunately, the situation became far more complicated after authorities arrested him during the FBI’s investigation into the sports betting scandal. According to recent reports from ‘The Athletic’s Mike Vorkunov, the federal prosecutors have accused the NBA star of accepting a $100,000 bribe.
The incident allegedly took place during Terry Rozier’s stint with the Charlotte Hornets, when the team pulled him out of the game early in March 2023. Such a turn of events meant that the group of ‘under’ bettors would win their bets while a large number of ‘over’ bettors lost a huge amount of money.
Federal prosecutors claim that Terry Rozier accepted a $100,000 bribe to intentionally leave the game early on March 2023, enabling a group of sports gamblers to profit from his player props.

“Ultimately, the indictment said, he told a friend, Deniro Laster, that he would leave the March 23, 2023, Hornets game against the New Orleans Pelicans in the first quarter. Laster then reportedly shared that information with the gamblers,” wrote Vorkukov.
Surely, the situation at the moment is not looking great for the former Heat star. With allegations coming in rapidly, the star player is becoming increasingly involved in the scandal.
Initially, charges against the NBA star were limited to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. However, in April this year, reports suggested that the prosecutors would bring additional charges related to sports bribery and honest services.
The report pointed out, “Federal prosecutors intend to bring new charges against Terry Rozier related to their sports gambling case against the NBA player and others. A lawyer in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York said Monday that it intends to file a superseding indictment against Rozier, alleging that he “solicited and accepted a bribe.”
