Former NBA Champion Reveals Perfect Trade Target for Pistons and Cade Cunningham

The Detroit Pistons went from East contenders to playoff danger mode in a hurry. Having grabbed the No. 1 seed, they now trail the Orlando Magic 3-1 in a shocking first-round series. That kind of pressure always sparks offseason talk, and Detroit’s roster questions are already getting louder.

The biggest issue is simple: Cade Cunningham needs help. Detroit has leaned heavily on its star guard for shot creation, while the secondary scoring has come and gone. If this season ends early, we can expect the front office to look hard at adding another elite bucket-getter.

One former NBA champ, however, already has the answer. During “520 In The Morning Podcast,” Jeff Teague said Detroit should make a move for Kevin Durant this summer, calling the fit obvious next to Cunningham.

“They desperate for another scorer and Kevin Durant is still playing at a high level, that would take so much pressure off Cade and so much pressure off Kevin Durant to do everything. I think it would be an easy fit.”

Durant, now with Houston, still averaged 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists this season despite dealing with a knee injury. Per a recent The Ringer report, Detroit is also among multiple teams expected to have interest if he becomes available. Yes, he’s 37. And yes, the timeline is tricky. However, if the Pistons want to maximize Cunningham now, Durant would instantly change the ceiling.

After Cade Cunningham, Kevin Durant Rumors Took Off

Kevin Durant’s Game 3 bench absence had NBA fans cooking up wild theories fast. With Houston down in the series, people started wondering if something bigger was happening behind the scenes. Classic KD rumor season.

Shams Charania shut that down on The Pat McAfee Show. He said Durant has remained fully involved with the Rockets, working daily with trainers, receiving treatment, and attending multiple team meetings despite being sidelined.

The real issue is health, not drama. Durant is dealing with a sprained ankle after already battling a knee bruise. Houston stole Game 4, but now heads back to LA needing another win. KD’s return remains unclear, and that’s the real story.
