Even though he’s not playing in the NBA anymore, Patrick Beverley still has a lot of things to say when it comes to the league. Just recently, the former guard gave an honest review of the Minnesota Timberwolves after their loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a thrilling season opener, the Lakers defeated Minnesota with a score of 110-103, marking a historic night as LeBron and Bronny James became the first father-son duo to play together in the NBA. LeBron contributed 16 points, while Anthony Davis shone with a remarkable 36 points and 16 rebounds, demonstrating his dominance on the court.

The Timberwolves, coming off their best season in two decades, struggled to find their rhythm, particularly in the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns , who was traded recently. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 27 points, but the team lacked consistent scoring from others, including Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, who made their debuts after the trade.

The game was tightly contested, with both teams exchanging leads. The Lakers’ defensive strategy, spearheaded by Davis, proved effective, limiting the Timberwolves’ offensive options, especially during critical moments. Davis was instrumental down the stretch, either scoring or assisting on 13 of the Lakers’ next 15 points after returning late in the game.

Despite the loss, the Timberwolves showed promise with their new roster, though they will need to address their offensive cohesion moving forward. As the Lakers celebrate their victory, they look ahead to their next matchup against the Phoenix Suns, while the Timberwolves prepare to face the Sacramento Kings.

The Timberwolves’ loss to the Lakers has drawn a lot of reactions from fans and critics alike. Among them is Beverley, as seen in a tweet he posted on his official X account.

“Minny looks like a diff team. ‍

️ have never seen this much iso from them. Still early but this will be interesting,” Beverley tweeted.

Beverley, a fan-favorite from his time with the Timberwolves, expressed frustration following the team’s recent loss to the Lakers. In a post shared from Tel Aviv, he highlighted Minnesota’s over-reliance on isolation plays, noting that they appear different this season.

Fans are concerned about the team’s lack of offensive fluidity, particularly with new addition Julius Randle. To succeed moving forward, the Timberwolves must find a balance between isolation and ball movement, addressing these issues to improve their performance in the competitive Western Conference.
