It's appropriate that Lanier, who is from Nashville, played in his first NBA game in Memphis.

The former Vol noted in his post-game interview that he heard plenty of Tennessee fans in the crowd.

"It was just super fun to be out there and go out there and have fun," said Lanier. "I heard a lot of the Volunteer fans out there in the crowd. So shoutout to them, it was great to be back in the home state and have a lot of family out here to watch me and support."

Lanier and the Pistons will be back in action on Thursday night for a preseason matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.
