Russell Westbrook discusses latest disappointing loss
Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards lost to the San Antonio Spurs 121-101 on Sunday. Bradley Beal scored 31 points while going 13-of-29 from the field, while Russell Westbrook chipped in nine points on 3-of-11 shooting.

After the game, a clearly frustrated Westbrook admitted that he needed to be better.

“I’m definitely not where I need to be in all aspects,” he said, per Fred Katz of The Athletic. “I just gotta be better…"

When pressed on whether his quad injury was healing as needed or if that was limiting his game, Westbrook dismissed it as an excuse.

“Yeah, I’m alright,” he said.

Sunday marked Westbrook’s return to the court in more than two weeks due to that left quad injury. He last played on Jan. 8 against the Boston Celtics, when he tallied 12 points, eight assists and four rebounds en route to a 116-107 loss.

Westbrook subsequently missed his team’s next two games against the Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns, before the whole squad was forced to have its next six games postponed after failing to field the required minimum of eight players on the floor.

Washington is currently 3-9 on the year. Barring a massive turnaround, the Bradley Beal trade rumors will likely heat up once more sooner rather than later.
