Giannis Antetokounmpo could leave the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason. After a long association and some excellent memories to cherish, the Greek-Nigerian star will probably don a new franchise’s colors next season. Ahead of his expected trade, Bucks fans perhaps wanted to watch their favorite star play at home for one last time. But alas! Oftentimes, we do not get what we long for.

Milwaukee will face the Brooklyn Nets at the Fiserv Forum this Friday. However, Jon Horst told the Journal Sentinel a couple of days earlier that doctors have declared the 31-year-old medically unfit. According to the team’s first injury report, they have listed the ‘Greek Freak’ as out.

Now, there is a possibility for the 2021 NBA champion to make a last-minute comeback. But we seldom see athletes upgraded from ‘out’ to ‘playing’ overnight. Sadly, the fans will have to do without bidding the 2024 NBA Cup champion a formal goodbye.

The last time Antetokounmpo set foot in Fiserv Forum was on March 15. Hyperextending his left knee after an awkward landing from a dunk, the star player never returned. His injury status read ‘questionable’ on March 17, which ignited speculations of a comeback. But ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers game, the Bucks ruled the 2021 NBA Finals MVP out.

While Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss his final home game, the Milwaukee Bucks will decide if he plays the season finale against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Meanwhile, as several big-money teams are waiting to scoop up Antetokounmpo, there’s a brewing tension between the 31-year-old and the head coach.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Believes He Is Ready To Play

It looks like till the last moment, the rift between Antetokounmpo and his team will remain unresolved. Currently, the 2-time NBA MVP is actively working to prove he is fit to play. Surprisingly, the team does not hold the same opinion. Addressing the situation, head coach Doc Rivers’ recent statement further stoked the fire.

This is a grown man’s game, and it should be handled that way by everybody. I don’t like when it’s he said, she said stuff. It’s not good. Just from that seat, the fact that I have to sit up here and keep addressing it, it bothers me, and we need to do something about it,” Rivers said.

Thus, as things continue to worsen, fans will wait to see whether Antetokounmpo plays in the final regular-season game.
