Throughout the summer, Giannis Antetokounmpo had been at the center of several trade rumors. However, after no move solidifying and the Milwaukee Bucks doing whatever it took to make the former NBA champion stay for another year– all the way from signing reinforcement such as Myles Turner, to bringing in the Greek superstar’s brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo on a one-year deal, it seemed as if the superstar forward might just stay in Wisconsin after all.
However, now, after what seemed to be the end of the Giannis trade saga, he himself has dropped a massive statement regarding his future in the league. “Look, I hope it never happens, but I’m expecting it too. Just because you’ve given a lot to the team doesn’t mean the team won’t do what’s best for itself.” Antetokounmpo told Sport24. The Greek Freak indicated that even though he’s done more than enough to decide his next move, that doesn’t mean the franchise cannot do what they think is best for their future.
Amid this, Giannis has made a clear demand to his team. “To get the best from the team and from me, I have to be a creator. I need to feel I can create. If you look at the last two months, when I had the green light—if the ball is in my hands and I have that green light to create… I don’t always need to finish, but I need to feel I’m creating, that I’m part of the team and not just a finisher, not just going in to score 30, take it in the post and have to put it in,” he said.
