Golden State Warriors Make Official Roster Announcement

The Golden State Warriors made their biggest splash of the season earlier this month by trading for Jimmy Butler, and have had their share of success since then, going 5-1. However, they aren't done making moves yet, as they recently signed a former college and international standout to a two-way deal.

On Tuesday, the Warriors announced that they added Taran Armstrong to the fold. The Australian player is 23 years old and played two seasons at California Baptist before heading back to the Land Down Under to play for the Cairns Taipans.

At California Baptist, he twice led the Western Athletic Conference in assists and was named to the All-WAC team. He finished his two college seasons averaging 10.9 points and 5.6 assists while shooting 42.3 percent from the floor and 30.6 percent from deep. In the NBL, he increased his numbers in his second season to 17.1 points per game and 4.7 assists.

He has also become a better shooter, going 35.1 percent from deep as a pro on more than twice the attempts.

In the NBA, Armstrong isn't expected to be much of a scorer thanks to his lack of speed and athleticism, but he seems to have a good feel for the game and can lead an offense when needed.

Chances are, the Warriors will keep him in the G League for the season, but he provides some insurance in case the Dubs' guard depth gets slashed due to injury. He is the type of player who will make his teammates better but won't necessarily elevate the team as a whole, especially against NBA talents.
