The Golden State Warriors are close to making a triumphant playoff return since acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. The veteran forward’s skill and energy on offense and defense were critical to the team’s post-trade deadline successes.

But while Butler has been indispensable for the Warriors, everyone knows Stephen Curry still runs the show. The future Hall of Famer rediscovered his groove with Butler’s arrival, and his gravity allowed the Warriors to climb from struggling to make the play-in to possibly securing an automatic postseason spot.

However, they must win their final regular-season game against the Clippers to earn the right to face the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. Moreover, Curry is still dealing with an injury that will affect his performance.

With such a high-stakes game ahead of them, Curry opens up about his status ahead of the game.

Curry revealed the thumb he hurt in January is still affecting him. Howeer, he understands that the Dubs need him more than ever to step up against the Clippers.

Per ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk:

“From what I know, just an aggravation,” Curry said of the latest injury. “The same thing [as the earlier thumb injury], but hopefully it wasn’t anything serious.”

He added: “I just know it hurts right now, but I’ll be all right.”

Some Warriors fans would hope that Curry wouldn’t have an off night the same way he did against the Portland Trail Blazers. He finished the 103-86 win with 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

One thing drives Curry’s decision to push through his injury: the Warriors must win against the Clippers if they don’t want to miss an automatic first-round berth.

They share the same record with the Minnesota Timberwolves, with only one game remaining this season. While their head-to-head record puts them above the Wolves, Minnesota can easily win against the Jazz.

Curry didn’t try to downplay how important the season finale is to their championship chase, as he told Ohm about his thoughts on the April 13 game:

“I don’t want to be too dramatic,” Curry said when asked what the finale will be like. “It should be like a Game 7 kind of vibe. You win and you control your destiny on a guaranteed playoffs series. If you lose, you roll the dice.”

While there are legitimate concerns about his health, Curry has played well against the Clippers. His last ten games against the other LA team saw him average 27.0 points ,4.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.
