Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is arguably the best player on the planet. At the center position, he can make a significant impact with the way he can pass, shoot and rebound the basketball. Even during international competition, he doesn’t change the way he plays and elevates his teammates. His teammate in the Serbian men’s national basketball team, Bogdan Bogdanovic, is well aware of how great a player Jokic is.
The two Serbian players are reunited this summer for the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket. Jokic was unable to guide the national squad to a medal-winning finish in the 2022 tournament. As a result, they finished as the ninth-best team in the competition.
This year, the Serbians are considered a threat to finish with a medal. The team boasts an NBA-filled roster that features Jokic, Bogdanovic, Nikola Jokic, Nikola Topic and Vasilije Micic, to name a few.
Ahead of the tournament, Bogdanovic was asked about the brilliance that Jokic offers on the court. The seasoned NBA player talked about his outstanding teammate and what makes him stand out when he possesses the ball.
“I think everybody knows about his IQ and feel for the game, but what is really making him special, I think, is his basketball shape for his size, the ability to run and conditioning,” Bogi said.
The Los Angeles Clippers guard revealed that Jokic’s passing is what impresses him the most.
The Denver Nuggets star continues to leave a las ting impression on whoever he plays with or against. Jokic’s skill is evident whether he is playing in the NBA or abroad.“His front vision. I feel like he knows what’s going to happen steps ahead,” he added. “It brings the probably the highest confidence that I got to play with anyone else.”
It’s known among NBA fans that basketball isn’t the top priority for the Denver Nuggets star. To Jokic, his family and other hobbies usually take the cake. During the offseason, he usually doesn’t take an interest in playing basketball, unless he needs to work out or play for his home country.
Most of the time, however, he’s with his family or spending time with his horses.
German guard Dennis Schroder has nothing but admiration for the three-time MVP for being able to put basketball as his third or (sometimes) fourth priority.
“I find it fascinating that basketball really only comes second or third in his life,” Schroder said. “He enjoys spending time with his family and his horses. He lives for the things that matter to him.”
“He says he doesn’t want to be remembered in the books for basketball, but for how good he is as a father. But as a player, he’s the best in the world…Well, it’s just like that based on the stats and what he’s been doing in the league for the past three, four, five years how he dominates.”
The Denver Nuggets star is proving that he doesn’t need to put basketball at the top at all times.
