Monday night was the first time the Charlotte Hornets had all five of their starters playing. At the most crucial moments of the game, most of them were on the bench.
LaMelo Ball returned from injury Monday, which meant the Hornets finally had their five intended starters healthy: Ball, Brandon Miller, Josh Green, Miles Bridges and Mark Williams. They played the Philadelphia 76ers close for three-and-a-half quarters, but the Sixers pulled away in the fourth quarter facing mostly Hornets reserves.
Charlotte got within four points on a tip shot from Bridges with 6:51 to go, but coach Charles Lee almost immediately took Bridges out. With Bridges, Ball and Miller all sitting, Philly went on a run, which started with a three-pointer from Kelly Oubre.

Bridges and Ball were out due to rotations, while Miller turned his ankle on a drive and headed to the locker room — though he made his shot despite the injury.

It turned into a 9-0 run from the 76ers, who never looked back.
There's no news yet on the severity of Miller's ankle injury, but it looks like the reunion of Charlotte's starting lineup might be over before it even begins. Some of the late rotations were designed to give players rest. Some were to get young Hornets players some minutes. And some might be due to Charlotte perhaps preferring to lose games and get a better draft pick.
We'll have to wait to see how the Hornets' ideal five-man lineup works together. But it also might not be long before rookie Tidjane Salaun breaks into the group anyway.
