The Hornets have added guard Marcus Garrett on a training camp deal and released forward Brandon Slater, the team announced.
Garrett, 25, is expected to be on an Exhibit 10 contract, which could funnel him back to the Greensboro Swarm, Charlotte’s G League affiliate.
Exhibit 10 deals come with the chance for a bonus of up to $85,300 if the player spends at least 60 days in the G League after being waived.
The former Kansas standout went undrafted in 2021 and has appeared in 16 NBA games total, including 12 with the Heat as a rookie and four with the Hornets on a 10-day deal last March.
Known for his defense, Garrett averaged 10.4 points, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 42 G League games with the Swarm last season.
Slater, who signed with Charlotte earlier this week, was waived to make room.
