How Knicks Can Take Top Eastern Conference Seed

After the above-average 6-4 start to the 2024-25 season, the New York Knicks play behind the Boston Celtics and the shocking dominant stretch from the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, in light of an upcoming schedule advantage, the Knicks have a strong case to top the Celtics and Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference standings.

New York is 0-2 against Boston and Cleveland.

Despite their lack of success against the two top Eastern Conference teams, the Knicks can still top them. Between Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns' combined 49.9 points average and the elite Knicks offense, as they rank second in offensive rating, New York is a legitimate NBA team, third-seed.

Playing in Madison Square Garden makes a difference for New York's favorite professional sports franchise. The Knicks are 10-4 at Madison Square Garden during the 2024-25 season.

In light of their positive home record, the following fact should motivate the Knicks' start to the new year: The Knicks play 15 games in January, 11 of which are at Madison Square Garden and one in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, which might as well be a home game for the historic New York franchise.

Although it's unlikely the Knicks will go undefeated at home in January, their large number of home games puts them in a favorable position. At 23-10, the Knicks trail the Celtics by one loss and are six from catching up to the Cavaliers for the best record in the Easter Conference.

Few teams have a more favorable start to 2025 than the Knicks' home stretch, which will fuel their pursuit of the crown as the best team in the East.
