The Boston Celtics traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Anfernee Simons this summer, and there’s a chance that the latter might be traded to another team.

However, if Simons stays and suits up for the Boston Celtics this upcoming season, he could end up being one of the team’s most productive players, according to an anonymous NBA executive.

“I bet you he’s their leading scorer. Even with Jaylen. He’s going to have the ball a lot, and that dude can really score. That offense is going to have to change to accommodate him, and, on the last year of his contract, he’s going to let it fly,” the exec told Heavy’s Steve Bulpett.

“As the kids say, he’s a bucket. He is. That dude is a bucket. He can really fill it up. And remember, he was averaging around 20 in the West. What do you think he’s going to do in the Eastern Conference, which is a LOT less competitive? How’s he not going to score and score big?” he added.

Boston Celtics urged to keep Anfernee Simons in the meantime

The Boston Celtics have gotten out of the insidious second apron after trading Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday and letting go of Al Horford, Luke Kornet, and JD Davison. However, it seems that the team plans to shed more salary to gain more financial flexibility.

This is the reason why the Boston Celtics remain keen on offloading Anfernee Simons, who is on an expiring contract . However, one analyst believes that they should let the former Portland Trail Blazers star stay for a while.

“The best bet for the C’s, in my opinion, has always been carrying Simons into the season and seeing where it goes. Brooklyn, Utah could make something happen, but it would cost C’s valuable draft capital they don’t want to part with,” Celtics CLNS’ Bobby Manning posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
