During an interview with DJ Siddiqi of RG, Portland Trail Blazers guard Jrue Holiday opened up about his NBA future.

Holiday is 35 years old. He’s been in the NBA since 2009.

“Just kind of going with it,” Jrue Holiday said. “I’ve been blessed enough to play for this long, and I’ve never taken that for granted. I know this is a dream come true for most young kids, but I know 17 years is a dream come true for any 35-year-old who gets a chance to stay as healthy as possible and to play the game that they love. I’ll just continue playing until I can’t anymore.”

The Boston Celtics traded Holiday to the Trail Blazers this offseason. Holiday will make $32.4 million in 2025-26 and $34.8 million in 2026-27. The two-time NBA champion has a player option worth $37.2 million for the 2027-28 season.

For the Celtics last season, Holiday averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks while shooting 44.3% from the field, 35.3% from beyond the arc and 90.9% from the free-throw line.

The Trail Blazers traded Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks for Holiday in 2023. Now, Holiday and Lillard are teammates in Portland.

“We’ve known each other for a long time now, but even when he first re-signed with the team, him texting me, ‘Man, we really got a chance to be good.’ Goal is to win,” Holiday said. “The goal is to win and to make some noise.

“I think that after the last few years of what has happened after Damian Lillard being traded — and then now Dame’s back — I think it’s an exciting time here in Portland. It’s an exciting time to be a Trail Blazer, and I’m excited to be part of it.”

Holiday won the 2021 championship with the Bucks and the 2023 championship with the Celtics. He’s a two-time All-Star and a six-time All-NBA defender.
