John Wall’s NBA journey has come to an end after an 11-year stint in the league.

To be precise, John Wall spent 13 years in the NBA, but he missed one season due to injury. He also sat out one season with the Houston Rockets.

Despite not being in the league for the last two seasons, NBA fans bid an emotional goodbye to Wall. It was truly an anticlimactic end to the career of one of the most athletic guards in NBA history.

Justin Termine on how John Wall will be remembered, names similar stars

Considering the fact that Wall was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, there’s no doubt that he was one of the most highly rated prospects in the modern era.

Wall made a name for himself thanks to his athletic playing style, despite being a 6’3″ point guard. SiriusXM NBA Radio’s Justin Termine recently spoke about Wall’s NBA retirement.

“I guess if you’re kind of saying how you’re going to remember John Wall, and you can tell me, I guess the first thing that’ll probably pop into my head is probably like one of the fastest guys with the ball in his hands in NBA history, right?” Termine said.

Regardless of how his career ended, Wall still commands immense respect from his peers. It was evident when Kyrie Irving dropped ‘generational’ praise on Wall.

“Now, again, the prime didn’t last long, but at his athletic peak, I would say you kind of throw him in the same category athletically at the point guard position as you would, you know, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, Ja Morant,” Termine added.

With Derrick Rose already retired and Russell Westbrook struggling to find his next team as an unrestricted free agent, fans can only see shades of Wall’s prime in Ja Morant.

Justin Termine is worried about Ja Morant

Another common thread tying the above-mentioned stars together is injury troubles throughout their careers.

Termine pointed out that only Brodie has managed to carve out a rather long career despite battling with injuries during the prime of his career. As a result, the NBA analyst is worried about Morant’s future.

“And again, Westbrook’s the only one that’s had the extended prime out of those guys, like, you know, Rose clearly didn’t. Wall clearly didn’t. I’m nervous Morant might not,” he stated.

The NBA analyst then concluded with more praise for Wall, stating: “But, you know, that’s how good of an athlete he was at the point guard position, I think, at his athletic peak.

“You could throw him in that conversation as the fastest guy with the ball in his hands, maybe in NBA history.”

Wall averaged 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game for his career. He also earned 5x NBA All-Star honors, combined with 1x All-NBA and 1x All-Defensive team selections.
