Iman Shumpert challenges Cavs ahead of Game 4

The Cavaliers are now one loss away from elimination after falling to the New York Knicks 121-108 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals Saturday night at Rocket Arena.

That alone was rough enough.

Hearing loud “Let’s Go Knicks” chants echo through Cleveland’s home arena only added to it.

Former Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert, who helped Cleveland win the 2016 championship, didn’t hold back afterward while discussing the team’s effort and energy level — particularly when it comes to Donovan Mitchell.

“When you look at somebody like Donovan Mitchell, you know what he possesses,” Shumpert said on ESPN. “I don’t care if you’re tired. I don’t care if you’re banged up.

“Do it without the mask. Save the bus, save the girl, take the punches, the broken ribs. That’s why you’re Spidaman.”

Mitchell finished with 23 points in Game 3, though he hasn’t quite looked like the explosive version of himself Cleveland has relied on throughout much of the postseason.

Still, Shumpert made it clear he believes the issues go beyond one player.

“When I look at this team, I look at guys that feel like sometimes somebody needs to put them in position, somebody needs to show them the way,” Shumpert said. “No, no, no. Half the things that are going on with Cleveland is effort.”
