Myles Turner played a huge role in the Indiana Pacers’ 108-91 Game 6 victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder despite only putting up three points, four rebounds, one assist, and two blocks on 1-for-9 shooting from the field in 26 minutes of action.
Turner, who had a plus-minus of +19, made his presence felt on the defensive side of the court. With two blocks through three quarters yesterday, he became only the second Eastern Conference player since Dwight Howard to have more than 45 blocked shots during a playoff run, per StatMuse.
Dwight Howard achieved this remarkable feat twice during his peak years with the Orlando Magic in 2008-09 and 2009-10, when he recorded 60 and 49 blocks in the postseason, helping the team reach at least the Eastern Conference Finals in those years.
Turner has been a steady frontcourt presence for the Indiana Pacers throughout this postseason, averaging 14.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.1 blocks on 50.0 percent shooting from the field and 35.7 percent from three-point range.
Myles Turner was not the only one who showed up for the Indiana Pacers, as Obi Toppin came off the bench and notched 20 points, six rebounds, two steals, and four three-pointers on 6-for-12 shooting from the field in 23 minutes of action.
According to StatMuse, Toppin is only the second bench player in NBA history to register at least 70 points, 30 rebounds, and 12 three-pointers in a Finals series, highlighting his impact on the team.
The high-flying forward averages 9.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on 49.7 percent shooting from the field for the Indiana Pacers this postseason.
