Myles Turner recently opened up about Tyrese Haliburton’s status for Game 6 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Indiana Pacers center emphasized that the team is prepared to play with or without their point guard.
“You have to prepare either way,” Turner said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
“We’ve been in games without Tyrese (Haliburton) before. It’s unfortunate that in one of the biggest games of the season that there’s a chance he doesn’t play…We have a lot of guys who are willing and capable of stepping up in his absence, but it has to be a collective effort,” he added.
Haliburton is questionable to play in Game 6 after sustaining a calf injury, which hampered his performance in Game 5 last Monday. The two-time NBA All-Star only had four points, seven rebounds, six assists, and missed all six shots from the field.
Tyrese Haliburton said during the postgame presser in Game 5 that he plans to play in Game 6 despite his injury. Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault expects the same, and he’s not taking any chances against the Indiana Pacers later.
“Haliburton’s a great player. One thing we know is you don’t underestimate great players. So, in the case that he plays, we’re expecting his best punch,” Daigneault said via ClutchPoints’ Josue Pavon.
“I thought our improvement from Game 4 to Game 5 was critical, and we’re gonna need a similar type of approach. We got to take the humility to understand there’s still a lot we can get better at if we wanna go on the road and win a game,” he added.
