The Indiana Pacers have been hit by the injury bug which has completely destroyed their season.

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton was already expected to be out for the entire 2025-26 season after suffering an Achilles tear in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.

However, outside of that the Pacers have had a laundry list of injuries. Guards Andrew Nembhard (shoulder) and Bennedict Mathurin (toe) have played in three combined games.

Meanwhile, veteran guard TJ McConnell (hamstring) is expected to miss a month and rookie guard Kam Jones is out for at least a week. Peter Taelon (right groin strain) and Johnny Furphy (left foot bone bruise) have also been out.

Now, Obi Toppin will be out indefinitely with a partial stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

Obi Toppin to undergo foot surgery, expected to miss at least 3 months

Toppin’s injury is the latest blow to the Pacers season.

Toppin will require foot surgery that will likely sideline him until February, Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle told reporters.

The 27-year-old was removed from Sunday’s game against the Timberwolves in Minnesota and Carlisle initially said the injury was a hamstring.

But Toppin was listed out on the injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks with a stress reaction in his right foot.

The winless Indiana Pacers look destined for a top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft

The Pacers are one of only three teams to not have a win so far this season.

The expectations coming into this season for the Pacers were low given that Haliburton was going to be sidelined, but they were still expected to be competitive.

However, injuries have quickly tarnished the Pacers as they already look to be in a prime position to acquire a top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, which has been deemed generational.

The Pacers traded away the No. 23 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft to the New Orleans Pelicans to recover their 2026 first-round pick.

Therefore, as the Pacers’ 2025-26 NBA season continues to slip away, expect them to play for the lottery.
