Is Anthony Edwards Playing Tonight Against 76ers? Latest Injury Update on Timberwolves Star

Anthony Edwards has been a real asset for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season. Despite his back-and-forth relationship with Chris Finch, his form enabled the Wolves to keep themselves in playoff contention. However, just as the most important stretch of the league began, the team received a stellar blow.

Taking on the Philadelphia 76ers next, Finch and his men needed the 24-year-old to be in top form. Unfortunately, that might not happen, as they ruled Anthony Edwards out of the game against the Detroit Pistons. Thus, it is very likely that the star player might not suit up against Philadelphia, either. However, the final injury report for the game is still pending. And what is more concerning for the fans is that the ‘Ant-Man’ has been listed with two different health conditions at the moment.

Edwards is dealing with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome in his right knee. And if that was not all, the team also listed him with an undisclosed illness, and they have not yet made the details public.

Well, this is not the first time that the 4-time NBA All-Star has missed games due to injury. Edwards sat out for six games owing to knee inflammation before playing against the Dallas Mavericks recently. While his return to the side was predicted by The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski, the present situation has made things even more complex.

Meanwhile, suffering a personal setback, Edwards will not be eligible for the NBA postseason awards.

Anthony Edwards Misses Out On NBA Postseason Awards

The moment Edwards featured on the injury list against the Detroit Pistons, he became ineligible for the NBA postseason awards. That’s because the Wolves’ star would not be able to complete the 65-game mark this season. Now, while he has technically played in 59 games, the league’s record of games will count only 58. And with six regular-season games left, the Minnesota Timberwolves now see 64 as an illusion.

This is an unfortunate turn of events as Edwards has averaged close to 30 points this season. Coming back after a gap of two weeks against the Dallas Mavericks, the 2026 NBA All-Star Game MVP dropped 17 points in just 23 minutes of action.

Thus, as things are looking pretty dark, fans would be eager to see how fast the 24-year-old star recovers.
