The New York Knicks will be looking to extend their lead on the Atlanta Hawks as Game 2 of the postseason round 1 awaits. Ahead of the playoffs, personalities like Shaquille O’Neal criticized Knicks’ mainstay, Karl-Anthony Towns’ consistency. Thankfully, in their first game, the 30-year-old did not disappoint his fans. Thus, ahead of the second game, fans are eager to know whether the star player will be available to play.

With no injury concerns, the New York Knicks expect their 6-time NBA All-Star to suit up. This means that once again, the Knicks fans will be able to watch the deadly duo of KAT and Jalen Brunson in action.

In game 1, the duo combined for a whopping 53 points to lead the Knicks to a 113-102 victory over the Hawks. Karl Anthony-Towns, looking slick with his play, dropped 25 points and eight rebounds while Brunson top scored with 28 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. Such a strong performance will surely boost the New Jersey native’s confidence. After all, the 2015 first overall pick has been often criticized for his body language.

Meanwhile, looking at Anthony-Towns’ recent form, it appears that the more he gets involved in the game the better it is for the New York Knicks.

Will Karl-Anthony Towns Play A More Active Role In Game 2?

The New York Knicks rely on the 2016 Rookie of the Year as their best bet to win the series against the Atlanta Hawks. Why? Well, let’s have a closer look at game 1. Surely, it was Brunson who had better numbers. But less than five minutes into the game, it was Karl Anthony-Towns who set up a screen for the 29-year-old.

And that was not all. KAT was constantly in search of cutters, making a hockey assist to Josh Hart. With less than a couple of minutes into the third quarter, the 30-year-old nailed a three-pointer following an impressive screening of Brunson.

Speaking about the team’s strategy, head coach Mike Brown said, “We want to put him in pick-and-roll situations so he can pick-and-pop and shoot the ball or take the ball off the dribble. And then we also wanna put him at the elbow so he can playmake for us, because we feel like we move very well (like that).”

Thus, with the Knicks looking like the favorites, fans will now wait to see what’s next.
