The Los Angeles Lakers look like a transformed team at the moment. Looking all set for a historic playoff run, the purple and gold brigade won their recent game 120-101 against the Washington Wizards. And remember, this was the game where Luka Doncic was suspended. But despite winning without the former Dallas Mavericks’ star, JJ Redick, and his team would want the 27-year-old to come back into the lineup.
Los Angeles will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in what will be a consecutive home game. Thankfully, with no injury woes affecting him, the 6-time NBA All-Star Luka Doncic will likely start for the Los Angeles Lakers.
As a matter of fact, the 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year’s unavailability was due to a bizarre suspension. Playing against the Nets, Doncic clashed with Ziaire Williams. While the officials booked him with a double tech, the Lakers star was confused about why he picked up his 16th technical foul. According to the NBA rules, Doncic had to sit out for a game, which was against the Wizards.

Thankfully, LeBron James and Austin Reaves combined to drop 21 and 19 points, respectively, to get JJ Redick’s team over the line comfortably. Now, as the 27-year-old will be back in the squad, the purple and gold brigade will be the firm favorites against the Cavaliers.
Meanwhile, looking at the extent of the 2024 NBA scoring champion’s dominance, the Lakers’ head coach vouched for his MVP contention.
Recently, Austin Reaves was not pleased with how the MVP voting turned out. But in a recent statement, head coach Redick noted that Doncic deserved to win the MVP this year. He cited how the 27-year-old has averaged 36.5 points, with a 49.3% shooting percentage in the last 16 games. Due to his exceptional showing, the Lakers have only lost 2 games while winning 14.
“If we continue to finish the season the way we’re playing right now, and he continues to play that way — to me, he is the MVP,” said Redick.
Surely, with things looking interesting, fans will now be eager to see how things pan out next.
