Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has hit his stride at the 2025 EuroBasket. While representing Slovenia, the guard seems to be in peak form, as he is putting up tremendous numbers while leading his team past some stiff competition.

Doncic built on this momentum with a dominant performance against Italy to lead Slovenia to a crucial 84-77 win. With an impressive 42-point game, an Italian magazine praised the guard's abilities.

"Luka is the most complete player that exists in basketball," 'Basket Magazine' featured. "Equally good on four positions, he knows everything and dominates in all statistical categories, now even in defense."

The 26-year-old has been an unstoppable force for Slovenia at EuroBasket. Coming out of the group stages, Doncic emerged as the leader in three out of four major statistical categories. Given the investment the guard made in himself over the offseason, it is evident that the results of his efforts are bearing fruit at the right time.

The game against Italy saw the Slovenian star at the peak of his powers. Although an early fall raised some concerns about his performance for the rest of the game, Doncic removed any shred of doubt by dropping 22 points in the first quarter. The guard managed to sustain this form by adding eight more points to his tally to complete 30 points by the end of the first half.

The 26-year-old has already had himself a historic performance at this year's EuroBasket, as he logged an iconic triple-double earlier in the group stages. Although his 42-point performance didn't surpass his personal best of 47 points against France at EuroBasket 2022, it was crucial all the same.

While Slovenia enjoyed a solid lead for the game, the Italian team put up a solid fight entering the second half. With Simone Fontecchio's 23-point outburst, Italy was right back in the game, even cutting the deficit to one point with under two minutes left to play.

Unfortunately for them, the Slovenian star came through for his team with clutch free throws to ensure his team's victory.

There has been some dissatisfaction with the officiating, especially with Doncic receiving free throws at a crucial juncture. Fontecchio addressed this after the game when he said, "He's hard to stop, especially because you can't get close to him; if you touch him, they call a foul."

Regardless, the guard's impressive performance ensured that Slovenia would head into the quarterfinals with some momentum behind them. This will be crucial as the Slovenian team is slated to face Germany, one of the favorites to win it all, on Sept. 10 in Riga.

Apart from his offensive contributions, Doncic's development as a defender has also been worth taking note of. With improved conditioning, the star has shown an increased effort on the defensive end. This has yielded some positive results, as he notched three vital steals against Italy.

As Slovenia looks to Doncic to lead the side to victory, the star guard will aim to sustain his rhythm on both ends of the floor and put up another crucial performance to keep the nation's title hopes alive.
