Jalen Brunson and Landry Shamet came through with crucial performances to lead the New York Knicks past the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 on Saturday night.
Brunson put together another All-NBA caliber campaign, leading the Knicks back to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight year. The team is on a mission to make the NBA Finals this year, something the franchise hasn’t done since 1999.
New York did its job defending homecourt in the first two games of the series, winning Games 1 and 2 in historic and convincing fashion. The next step was for them to win in enemy territory, a factor that Cleveland hoped would work in its favor.
New York had other plans. They were consistently strong on the offensive side of the ball, setting the tone early on as Cleveland failed to ignite a run and take control of Game 3. As a result, the Knicks officially take a 3-0 series lead.

Perimeter shooting and free throws made the difference in this matchup. The Knicks prevailed in both categories as they made 39% of their shots from downtown and converted 24 free throws. It wasn’t the same for the Cavaliers as they only made 29% of their 3-point attempts and got 12 shots at the line to go down.
Six players scored in double-digits for New York in the win, including Brunson. He led the attack with a stat line of 30 points, six assists, three rebounds, and one steal.
