Jaylen Brown Is Shocked After 5 Different Celtics Teammates Don't Pick Up His Call

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown hosted a Twitch livestream on Saturday and got quite an unwanted surprise during it. Brown tried calling five of his Celtics teammates on stream, and shockingly, not one of them picked up. The 28-year-old appeared to have called Payton Pritchard first, after which he tried his luck with Derrick White.

"Let's see if D-White pick up," Brown said. "D-White married too, so you know what I mean? Damn, 0-for-2 gang. Alright, I'm calling [Neemias Queta] right now... Damn, I'm sad, 0-for-3."

A disappointed Brown decided to call Jordan Walsh next and hilariously stated there would be consequences if he didn't answer.

"Jordan, I'll smash Jordan in the back of the head," Brown stated. "Alright, I'm calling Jordan right now. If J-Walsh don’t pick up, we got beef... Chat, we 0-for-4 gang. Chat, we got work to do. We 0-for-4. I done called four teammates, no response. Crazy."

Brown has been teammates with all four men for multiple seasons now and couldn't believe that none of them picked up. The four-time All-Star then decided to call up his longest-tenured Celtics teammate, Jayson Tatum.

"I'm using JT on the last one," Brown added. "... 0-for-5, chat. 0-for-5. What is going on? I called five, five of the bros… It’s something I’m not doing right. I gotta self-reflect. It's something I'm not doing right. Chat, I gotta get s*** together."

Brown started wondering where he went wrong as a teammate. You could understand, to an extent, Tatum, White, and Pritchard not picking up. Tatum has two children, while White and Pritchard are both married. Walsh and Queta, though, wouldn't have much of an excuse, you'd imagine.

It turns out, however, that there was a very good reason why none of these five picked up. A fan watching the stream revealed that Brown had changed his number.

"Jaylen Brown got a new phone number that's why they didn't answer the calls. Payton Pritchard eventually texted back and asked who the caller was."

Brown would have breathed a sigh of relief upon realizing this. Disaster had been averted, and he was saved from the embarrassment.

Brown's teammates do have love for him, as evidenced by White predicting he'll make the All-NBA First Team in 2026. That is probably the only way that the Celtics stay afloat, too, as they are severely weakened entering the 2025-26 season.

For starters, Tatum is likely to miss the entire campaign after tearing his Achilles tendon in the playoffs. Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, meanwhile, have been traded away. The Celtics, who won the NBA title in 2024, are a completely different team now, and Brown spoke about that on the stream as well.

"Feels like a new era," Brown stated. "Half the team is gone. I wish them the best. I appreciate them. I mean, they were great teammates, so it's kinda sad to see them go. It's a new era, everything has kind of changed and shifted."

Brown is the unquestioned leader of this group next season, and one wonders how far he can take them. Celtics legend Bob Cousy has already written off this team, and he isn't the only one to do so.

Brown, who averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game in 2024-25, would be keen to prove the doubters wrong.
