Jaylin Williams has signed a multi-year contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, the same day as his 23rd birthday. Williams, 23, averaged 5.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, along with a 43.9% field goal percentage, during the 2024-25 NBA season. Read on for further details surrounding the 2025 NBA champion’s contract extension.

Jaylin Williams’ Contract Extension

ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday. Charania, 31, wrote, “Oklahoma City Thunder C/F Jaylin Williams is signing a new three-year, $24 million contract extension with the franchise, sources tell ESPN. Thunder declined Williams’ $2.1M team option and negotiated the new raise with his agents Marcus Monk and Sean Kennedy of Excel Sports.”

Charania’s post attracted attention from the NBA world. One user wrote, “Presti just gets every bench role guy to sign for multi-year $8m AAV deals with team options. Most tradable contracts possible + insane value if they provide anything positive in the rotation. Such great work,” while another user responded, “Crazy how much they’re paying for vibes.”

Williams’ Outlook

Jaylin Williams’ outlook for the 2025-26 NBA season is optimistic. Williams signed a longer-term contract extension for additional financial stability. Williams’ contract extension is reportedly a three-year, $24 million deal, per NBA.com.

As a result, Williams will stay in Oklahoma City for the time being. In three seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Jaylin Williams has appeared in 146 games (46 starts) and drawn 85 offensive fouls (ranks 22nd in the NBA). And, during the 2024-25 NBA season, Williams shot 39.9% from the three-point range (61-153 3FGs).

Final Thoughts

Jaylin Williams’ most recent statistics are on the lower end, but he posted three triple-doubles in his nine starts during the 2024-25 season. As a result, Williams became the fifth player in Oklahoma City Thunder history to record multiple triple-doubles in a single season.

Williams, a Fort Smith, Arkansas, native, not only made history as a member of the first Thunder team to win an NBA championship, but also the first player of Vietnamese descent to be drafted in the NBA — and make an NBA Finals — so the success keeps on rolling for the former Mr. Basketball of Arkansas in 2020.
