Following the shocking news of the Los Angeles Lakers being sold again, this time to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner, many came out with an opinion. But arguably the most important statement came from the face of the franchise, superstar guard Luka Doncic.

Doncic went on social media to say that being a member of the Lakers means everything to him and that there is no limit to the potential of this franchise. And Buss responded to Doncic’s statement, believing he said everything perfectly:

Buss has always been supportive of her players, and especially the superstars. The Lakers have always been a franchise that are in lockstep with their most important players and Doncic is no different. Quite simply, it is hard to argue with anything Doncic laid out in his statement.

Doncic had built up a pretty good relationship with previous owner Mark Walter in a short amount of time and was in communication with the Lakers’ brass throughout the offseason as they completely re-shaped the roster around him. Now with Iger and Kushner in charge, there will be a different vision at the top of the franchise and Doncic understands that. In fact, Doncic has gotten used to change as this will now be his fifth set of owners since he entered the NBA.

What is most important in all of this is everyone being on the same page. From the top of ownership down to the last player on the roster and members of the staff all of the Lakers need to have the same vision in order to accomplish greatness and win championships. That is Doncic’s number one priority and Buss shares that same goal and as long as Iger and Kushner do too, everyone should be able come together.

For now, the focus of Doncic is getting ready for the upcoming regular season and making sure he and his teammates build the chemistry so they can hit the ground running once training camp begins. In the coming days though, he is expected to get on a call with the Lakers’ new owners to get to know each other.

Jeanie Buss to remain Lakers governor after sale

One big question surrounding the Lakers following the news of the sale breaking was the future of Buss, who had agreed in writing upon the sale to Mark Walter, that she would remain Lakers governor for at least the next five years. It was unclear whether that agreement would remain intact under Iger and Kushner, but that looks to be the case, at least for now.
