Jeremy Sochan Expresses Tension After Knicks Move

Big changes in the NBA don’t always feel real at first especially when a player spends years growing within one system before suddenly finding himself in a new city, a new locker room, and a completely different rhythm.

That’s the situation Jeremy Sochan has been navigating after moving on from the San Antonio Spurs, a team where he spent the early part of his career developing his identity on the court. At the time of the move, there wasn’t much said publicly about how he felt or what drove the decision. But as the dust has started to settle and the season has moved forward, Sochan is beginning to open up, offering a clearer glimpse into the emotions

The 22-year-old shared his thoughts on moving away from Spurs saying, “No real opportunity in my opinion. It is what it is. It's a deep team. Maybe I didn't see eye-to-eye with coach. I'm just blessed to be somewhere to grow.”

While Sochan described the change as a chance to grow, the comments have stirred conversation about how things unfolded behind the scenes. From the outside, many believe San Antonio’s decision came down to roster balance and player fit rather than personal issues, especially as the team leaned into a style built around spacing and evolving around Victor Wembanyama

Sochan’s strengths on defense were valued, but his offensive development didn’t quite keep pace with the direction the team was heading. Now in New York, the focus shifts away from the past, giving him a clean slate to carve out a bigger role and show how he’s grown since the trade.
