Jerry Stackhouse is the latest name to surface in the Chicago Bulls coaching search.
According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Stackhouse is among the candidates receiving consideration as Chicago looks for a replacement for Billy Donovan.
Honestly, it feels like Stackhouse has been circling one of these jobs for years now.
The former NBA All-Star has steadily built his coaching résumé since retiring as a player in 2013. He spent time as an assistant with the Raptors, Grizzlies and most recently the Warriors, while also serving as head coach of Raptors 905 and later at Vanderbilt.
And league circles have consistently viewed him as a future NBA head coach.
Stackhouse interviewed with the Hornets before they hired Charles Lee, and he has previously been connected to openings with both the Pistons and Raptors.
Last week, reports surfaced that Stackhouse would not return to Golden State because he was actively pursuing head coaching opportunities elsewhere.
Now Chicago enters the picture.
The Bulls continue casting a very wide net under new basketball operations boss Bryson Graham. Other reported candidates include Sean Sweeney, James Borrego, Micah Nori, Wes Unseld Jr., Dave Bliss, Lamar Skeeter and Ryan Schmidt.
At this point, the Bulls appear determined to explore every possible type of candidate before making a decision.
