Miami Heat shooting guard Jimmy Butler may be having a reunion with his former teammates over at the Philadelphia 76ers if new information from an NBA insider is to be believed.
In one of the recent editions of the “Good Word with Goodwill,” senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill reported that inside information from within the league is saying that the Sixers are currently one of the top suitors for a Jimmy Butler trade. Allegedly, star player and veteran Joel Embiid is also one of the people pushing for a Butler return.
“I’ve heard that Philly quietly could be a suitor for Jimmy Butler,” Goodwill said . “Theoretically, it would be a Jimmy for Paul George swap. I believe that Embiid is pushing for them to reacquire Jimmy.

However, Goodwill also highlighted that it is a known fact that the Sixers have promised Paul George that he won’t be traded one year into his deal with the team, which makes this report a little complicated.
Jimmy Butler spent the 2018-2019 NBA season with the Philadelphia 76ers after being traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves in November 2018. Butler played a key role in the team’s playoff run and helped them reach the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
In July 2019, Butler was traded to the Miami Heat as part of a four-team deal involving the Heat, 76ers, LA Clippers, and Portland Trail Blazers. The trade deal had the Sixers receive Josh Richardson, the Blazers acquire Hassan Whiteside, and the Clippers land Maurice Harkless with a future first-round pick.
While Jimmy Butler was previously reported to be highly interested in going to nowhere but the Phoenix Suns, another insider report suggested that the Golden State Warriors may also have an eye for acquiring Butler.
As reported by Shams Chanaria, both the Suns and the Warriors are showing interest in trading for Butler.
“The Heat are engaged with multiple teams on Jimmy Butler, including, from what I’m told, the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors,” Charania reported. “The Heat are operating in the landscape as a team that’s motivated with interested suitors. As far as a price tag on Jimmy Butler goes, it’s been described to me in league circles that the Heat are looking for shorter-term contracts, along with draft assets.”

In the past weeks, Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat management had been in a trade drama, starting with Butler openly requesting for a trade, and the Heat then suspending him for a “continued pattern of disregard for team rules and conduct detrimental to the team.”
