JJ Redick and Austin Reaves weren’t surprised to see LeBron James troll the world with his ‘Second Decision’ advertisement.

LeBron James sent the NBA world into a tailspin on Monday when he announced he would be making his ‘Second Decision’ on Tuesday afternoon.

Of course, fans will remember that LeBron James made ‘The Decision’ to announce he was joining the Miami Heat in 2010, leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With much speculation about James’ future in the NBA, many fans wondered whether the King was announcing his decision to retire from the NBA.

Instead, LeBron James’ ‘Second Decision’ proved to be an ad for the spirit brand Hennessy. And according to JJ Redick and Austin Reaves, no one should have been surprised.

JJ Redick and Austin Reaves claim they ‘all knew’ LeBron James was making an ad

Both JJ Redick and Austin Reaves were asked about LeBron James’ recent announcement and whether they were concerned about his potential retirement.

Redick laughed it off, claiming that it was absurd to think it was anything but an ad, and that they all knew that. Austin Reaves shared that he got some frantic calls and text messages about it.

JJ Redick: “You guys are idiots. We all knew it was an ad. I’m sure I got some texts… Most people who text me are also aware that it’s probably an ad. Nobody was freaking out.”

Austin Reaves: “Yeah (on whether people texted him about LeBron). You want me to elaborate on that? I just got a couple of calls – ‘what is this?’

“Obviously, it had the world on hold for whenever he released it… People were thinking that he was retiring. I’m glad he’s not.”

LeBron James’ future with the LA Lakers is still unclear

While LeBron James’ latest announcement proved to be nothing more than an ad, there are still a lot of questions being asked about what he does next.

James took his $52.6 million player option this summer, marking the first time that he and the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t negotiated a new contract over the last few years.

This means that the Lakers might not see James as part of their long-term future going forward. This isn’t surprising, given that they now have Luka Doncic as their franchise star.

The Lakers are prioritizing Doncic over James. As such, whatever roster decisions they make over the next year will have more to do with Luka and his feelings on the matter.

LeBron James will likely be a free agent next summer and have his choice of teams to sign with. Or, he could just decide that he wants to call it a career and retire.
