Last Saturday, LeBron James suffered a groin injury in the Los Angeles Lakers' loss to the Boston Celtics. It was announced afterwards that James would likely be out for a week or two to recover from the injury. The four-time champion has already missed one game so far--a loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday.

On Thursday, the Lakers will take on the Milwaukee Bucks as they aim to snap a two-game losing streak. While the Lakers have already announced that James will be out for the game, head coach JJ Redick made an announcement about the Lakers star that could be a good indication for the team.

While James will not return for the Lakers on Thursday, it seems like he is making progress. According to Redick, James, along with Jaxson Hayes and Rui Hachimura, has been sent back to Los Angeles for rest and recovery. Additionally, James is now considered day-to-day with his injury.

James' next opportunity to suit up will be on Saturday against the Denver Nuggets (though it is a road game). This could still be too soon of a turnaround, but with him now considered day-to-day, his status for the game is at least worth monitoring.

With a month left in the regular season, the Lakers currently own the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference after climbing their way all the way up to the No. 2 seed. Currently, the 2-9 seeds in the West are separated by just eight games. Despite it being a tight race, the Lakers are well-equipped for a deep playoff run as long as James is healthy to lead the way alongside Luka Doncic.
