Chris Finch has been thoroughly impressed with one young Minnesota Timberwolves star, despite his lack of NBA experience.
The Minnesota Timberwolves, now more than ever, will be relying on their youth to get them by. After two straight Western Conference Finals exits, the Timberwolves need their young stars to shine for depth.
One young star who has attracted a lot of attention recently is Joan Beringer. The Timberwolves’ first-round pick is proving to be an impressive acquisition.
Everybody on the Timberwolves is reportedly excited by Beringer’s potential. He could become a key figure in their rotation.
Even Anthony Edwards sees a lot of potential in Beringer. And now, his head coach has explained why he can be a big star in the NBA.
Chris Finch spoke to reporters about his recent praise for Joan Beringer. When one analyst asked why his fearlessness is a good trait, Beringer waxed lyrical about the young star.
Finch believes Beringer hasn’t been intimidated by the overwhelming pressure. Furthermore, Beringer hasn’t got any bad habits that other players do, which allows him and the Timberwolves to mold him.
“I think it certainly indicates toughness. You come into the league with grown men and professionals, and a lot of things are going on out there on the floor. You could be easily intimidated by it. Or you can give it too much respect.
“He has come in and attacked it; he only knows one way to play, which is great. He has no bad NBA habits. He’s as pure as they come when it comes to that.
“Which is great because we can now teach him exactly what we want to teach him. He’s surrounded by incredible pros on this team.
“I think that’s certainly going to help him. What he has is an unbelievable feel, and he’s just not afraid of the moment or environment.”
Chris Finch referred to the Wolves 18 year-old 1st round pick Joan Beringer as "fearless" earlier this week. Asked Finch tonight why that is an attribute he puts so much stock in.

As the 17th overall pick in this year’s draft, it’s becoming clear that Chris Finch thinks highly of Joan Beringer.
It would not be surprising to see the young Frenchman becoming a solid rotation player for the Timberwolves next season, given his potential and play so far in the preseason.
While Beringer has struggled against some veteran stars , with Jonas Valanciunas in particular proving to be a challenger, there is no denying how impressive he has been.
As the season goes on, the Timberwolves will invest more and more into Beringer’s development, and hope that it pays off in the playoffs, should they reach that stage.
