The New York Knicks picked up their first road win of the season against the Dallas Mavericks.
Prior to their matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, the New York Knicks were 0-4 away from Madison Square Garden.
Jalen Brunson led the way with 28 points, Karl-Anthony Towns had 18 points, Mikal Bridges had 16 and Josh Hart had 16 as well from off the bench.
The Knicks beat the Mavericks 113-111 after a controversial finish that had NBA fans buzzing.
Hart and Brunson had special guest Rick Pitino on their latest Roommates Show.
Hart talked to Pitino about getting outplayed by Donovan Mitchell during his draft workout. Pitino coached Mitchell at Louisville.
Hart said that Mitchell outshining him caused the Utah Jazz to take Mitchell at No. 13 during the 2017 NBA Draft and Tyler Lydon at No. 24 instead of him.
Hart ended up falling to No. 30 as the Los Angeles Lakers drafted him.
“You’re the reason why I didn’t get drafted to Utah.
“He [Donovan Mitchell] was in my draft workout… I was cool with Donovan, and knew him a little bit.
“I’m like, ‘oh, his jump jump shot is trash, I’m gonna give him space. We’re gonna do all that. I don’t think he missed a shot. His whole workout.
“It was the three on three portion, the spot shots, movement shots, he did not miss.
“They had another late first round pick that they were thinking about drafting me.
“Yeah, he cooked me so bad that they were just like, ‘yeah, for sure, gonna get this guy, I don’t know if we’re gonna take this guy, I don’t know if we’re gonna waste a draft pick on.”
After turning into a full-time starter for the Knicks last season, Hart was given a bench role under new head coach Mike Brown.
Hart has been the Knicks’ sixth man, averaging 25.8 minutes per contest.
The 30-year-old made his feelings clear about his bench role with the Knicks, saying he prefers coming off the bench rather than being a spot starter.
Hart has averaged 9.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 13 games this season.
