Julius Randle Accomplishes Feat Timberwolves Haven't Seen Since Kevin Garnett

The Minnesota Timberwolves got the best playoff performance of Julius Randle's 11-year NBA career on Saturday night, May 10, in San Francisco -- and they needed every bit of it.

Minnesota eked out a five-point victory over the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center to grab a 2-1 lead in the second-round Western Conference series. The Warriors were without Stephen Curry for the second consecutive contest, after he left in the first half of Game 1 with a hamstring strain.

Golden State was fired up in an attempt to get a win on its home floor, which would have guaranteed a Game 6 in the Bay Area on May 18 and given Curry a chance to get back into the lineup before the series ends. However, Randle and company took what may well prove to be the Warriors' best shot in Game 3 and now have the chance to take a stranglehold on the series Monday.

On the way to the victory, Randle accomplished something that no Timberwolves player -- including Anthony Edwards -- has done since Hall of Fame big man Kevin Garnett donned a Minnesota jersey.

"Julius Randle is the first Timberwolves player since Kevin Garnett in 2004 to record a postseason triple-double ," The Athletic posted to X following the game.

Randle finished the contest with 24 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Edwards finished with 36 points but played poorly throughout the first half by his own admission.
