The horrific L.A. wildfire tragedy has caused a lot of pain and damage to people across the city. Several people have faced health concerns, and even had their possessions destroyed, with some even losing their homes. Luckily, TMZ Sports is reporting that Kawhi Leonard's home in the Pacific Palisades is untouched and unharmed by the fires.
Kawhi Leonard's house, in a picture obtained by TMZ, appears to be untouched by the fires. Leonard, who stepped away from the Clippers shortly after making his return to take care of his family amidst the tragedy in Los Angeles, will be glad that he and his family's home was not damaged in any way.
Not everyone can be this fortunate. In fact, Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick lost his home in the wildfires. And Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr saw his childhood home get destroyed due to the fires as well.
Not to mention, the countless people who have lost their lives, health, possessions, and homes due to the tragic occurrence. It has been an incredibly difficult time for the city and the people of Los Angeles. They are going through a lot right now, and they need the world's prayers and best wishes during this difficult time.
Leonard will continue to be with his family for the foreseeable future. Even though the fires did not harm his house, Kawhi is a Los Angeles native and has several family members living in the city. He will likely stay and make sure everyone around him gets the help they need to get through this terrible disaster.
Russell Westbrook, Kawhi's former teammate on the Clippers, and a Los Angeles native in his own right, spoke about the wildfires and noted how so many people, including friends and family, have been adversely impacted by this occurrence.
The wildfires are serious enough that last night's Los Angeles Lakers game against the Charlotte Hornets, which was set to be played at the Crypto.com Arena, has now been postponed indefinitely.
Of course, it should be stated that in a situation like the one in Los Angeles right now, basketball should be the last concern for anyone involved. But a minute, and in. the grand scheme of things, an inconsequential side effect of this situation has been Leonard's departure from the team.
Kawhi returned to the team earlier this week after a lengthy stint on the shelf. And while he did struggle in his first two games back, he was coming off a pretty serious injury.
In his first two games back, Kawhi averaged 10.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting 31.8% from the field, 50.0% from the three-point line, and 33.3% from the charity stripe.
The first few games for Leonard were going to be important for him to find his rhythm again.
The hope right now is that Leonard's continued absence from the team is a speed bump when it comes to his progress. Right now, he should focus on making sure that he and his family are safe, healthy, and in a position to come out of this calamity unharmed.
And when he has figured all of that out, he can make his return to the Clippers and play himself back into form.
We here at Fadeaway World want to share our deepest sympathies with the victims of this horrendous tragedy and pray for everyone impacted by the wildfires.
