Kawhi Leonard's Honest Statement After Epic Collapse vs Lakers
USA TODAY Sports

The LA Clippers were absolutely embarrassed by the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night in what may have been the worst fourth-quarter collapse any team has had this season.

Up 21 points in the fourth quarter, the LA Clippers somehow found a way to lose against the Los Angeles Lakers and allow a 19-3 run in about four minutes. It was a moment that Kawhi Leonard knows shouldn't happen to any team trying to legitimately contend for an NBA Championship.

"Things like this shouldn’t happen," Leonard said after the game. "But like I said, you gotta give the Lakers credit. They fought, they stayed within the game. They caused turnovers, got out and transitioned and made shots."

Since December, the LA Clippers have been a tremendous clutch team. Their ability to stay clutch hasn't necessarily helped some of their bad habits though, as they've been bailed out numerous times against bad teams through late-game execution. That late-game execution failed them against the Lakers though, as they allowed LeBron James' Lakers to become the first Laker team in 20 years to overcome a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit.

After an amazing month of December and January, the LA Clippers have not been a good team in the month of February. They've been embarrassed in crucial games against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Sacramento Kings, and New Orleans Pelicans. Time after time, it seemed like each game would be a wake-up call for the team. Instead, they suffered the ultimate fourth-quarter humiliation by the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.
