Phoenix Suns power forward Kevin Durant is one of this off-season's hottest commodities among NBA teams looking to add that missing piece to their roster. Recent reports suggest the star's most likely destinations include the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat and Houston Rockets, according to Yahoo Sports.
On Saturday morning's episode of "The Kevin O'Connor Show," the host revealed details about the Phoenix's approach to Durant.
"I've heard personally from sources that I've talked to that the Suns are being really, really, really aggressive trying to get this done," he reported. "They want to get it done sooner than later. It's my understanding the Suns want some clarity of what their draft night is going to look like."
O'Connor later discussed the other side of the trade, disclosing Minnesota's true likelihood to land the superstar this offseason.
"Minnesota before July 1 is a second apron team. So, they can't aggregate salaries until July 1. So, if you're talking Minnesota, it's incredibly difficult to put a [KD] deal together, which is why with Phoenix rushing things here, I don't think it's Minnesota,” O'Connor said.
Durant shows no signs of slowing down, averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists this season in 62 games played. Despite his stat lines, the Suns missed the playoffs after being swept in the first round in 2024.
As Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Thursday, "Which team believes they're a Kevin Durant away from winning a championship, that's what this could come down to."
With recent speculation, a team may swing on a Durant deal in the coming weeks.
