Kevin Durant Reportedly Is ‘Definitely’ Open To Knicks, But New York Isn’t Biting

Kevin Durant may have his eyes on New York. But the Knicks? They’re not looking back.

That’s the word from ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, who said Thursday on Get Up that Durant “definitely” has interest in landing with the Knicks.

But despite the allure of adding one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, multiple New York outlets — including The Post and Newsday — are reporting that the Knicks aren’t interested.

That could put a damper on what appears to be an active trade exploration on Durant’s side. Per reports, the Suns have been working through scenarios alongside Durant’s business partner and Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman, with several meetings taking place in recent days.

Durant, 36, still has one year left on his contract and is owed $54.7 million next season. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists this year, shooting over 52% from the field and 43% from deep. On paper, still elite.

But paper doesn’t show playoff results, and the Suns didn’t get any. Despite boasting Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, Phoenix couldn’t even crack the play-in tournament. It cost Mike Budenholzer his job, and led to the hiring of Cavaliers assistant Jordan Ott.

Durant hasn’t reached the Finals since leaving the Warriors in 2019. Whether he makes it back again may depend on what happens next, and where. Just don’t expect it to be New York.
