Kevin Durant’s future with the Phoenix Suns may be decided sooner rather than later, as trade talks have intensified in the past 24 hours. The Suns have been actively engaging with multiple teams, and now, three franchises have emerged as the most serious contenders.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the focus has shifted to the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and Minnesota Timberwolves, with a deal potentially coming together in the next few days.
“All three of these teams think they’re gonna contend for a championship with Kevin Durant,” Charania said on “The Pat McAfee Show”.
Durant, who averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists last season, remains one of the most dominant scorers in the league. However, with Phoenix failing to make a deep playoff run, the franchise appears ready to move on from the 15-time All-Star.
Miami has been aggressive in its pursuit, looking to pair Durant with Bam Adebayo to form a formidable duo in the Eastern Conference. The Heat’s front office has reportedly been working on trade packages that could include Tyler Herro and draft picks.
Meanwhile, Houston and Minnesota are also making strong pushes. The Rockets, coming off a 52-30 season, believe adding Durant could elevate them to true title contention. The Timberwolves, fresh off back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances, see Durant as the missing piece to get over the hump.
With the NBA Draft approaching on June 25, the urgency to finalize a deal is growing. If a trade happens soon, Durant’s next destination could be locked in before the draft even begins.
