Kings Announce Injury Update for Key Player Before Magic Game

Unfortunately, the Sacramento Kings will be without one of their key wings as they prepare for a critical stretch run.

Jake LaRavia sustained a bone contusion on his left thumb after a hard fall on Tuesday in their loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days.

Sacramento Kings forward Jake LaRavia completed imaging on his left thumb after taking a fall in the third quarter versus the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, March 25. Imaging concluded LaRavia sustained a bone contusion. LaRavia will be listed as out and will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days,” the Kings announced.

LaRavia’s counting stats do not jump off the page since the trade deadline - he averages 6.1 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 1.3 APG in just under 20 minutes per game - but he plays an important role as a low-usage big wing, a position where the Kings are relatively undermanned.

LaRavia has become the primary wing off the bench, routinely injecting life into a Kings team that needs the occasional jolt in the second unit. His shooting (38.5 3PT%) is a big part of the Kings’ improved three-point efficiency after the deadline.

Sacramento’s options at the wing are now limited to Keegan Murray and Trey Lyles (who is more combo 4-5 than a true wing). Others at the position include sparingly used Doug McDermott and two-way player Isaiah Crawford.

The schedule over LaRavia’s injury window includes matchups against Orlando, Indiana, Washington, Charlotte, Cleveland, and Detroit. These teams - specifically Orlando, Indiana, and Cleveland - all have size that could exploit the Kings’ shortened wing rotation. If Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, or Pascal Siakam get Keegan Murray into early foul trouble, there could be some long nights on the horizon.

While this news is clearly unfortunate for the Kings and their postseason aspirations, it is an equally poor development for Jake LaRavia, who is a pending free agent playing for his next contract.

It is worth noting that LaRavia will be re-evaluated, not returning, in 7-10 days, so there is a chance he is out for several weeks and only returns for the last couple of games. Here’s hoping LaRavia can come back sooner rather than later.

Cavs’ Darius Garland Softball Game Lineup Includes Evan Mobley, Rich Paul, Kenny Atkinson

The celebrity softball game being hosted by Cavaliers guard Darius Garland reads like a who’s who of Cleveland sports personalities and NBA types. Probably because it is. The game is a way to raise funds for the Darius Garland Foundation, designed to “empower the next generation to chase their dreams,” per the official press release. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 2, at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake, Ohio. Given that Garland has a surgically repaired big toe, he’s likely to only manage while raising money for a good cause. But hey, many others will be there and taking the field. The roster, which is subject to change, features Cavaliers Evan Mobley, Jaylon Tyson, and Tristan Thompson (though he’s a free agent), as well as Cleveland-born agent Rich Paul — whose extensive list of clients includes Garland, Thompson, and oh yeah, LeBron James. NBA free agent guard Talen Horton-Tucker is also expected to be there, as is Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges. Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson and president of basketball operations Koby Altman will also take part in the day’s events. Below is a complete list of the “initial roster,” per the release: Ariane Kirkpatrick, CEO President, The AKA Team Mavuno Brandon Cavanaugh, NBA Agent, Klutch Sports Group Camryn Justice, Reporter, News 5 Cleveland Danita Harris, Anchor, WKYC 3News Des Nunnan, Entrepreneur Community Leader DJ E-V, Award-Winning Artist, DJ, Entrepreneur DJ Steph Floss, Official DJ, Cleveland Cavaliers Evan Mobley, Forward, Cleveland Cavaliers Freddie Gibbs, Grammy-Nominated Rapper G Herbo, Rapper Grant Gilbert, VP, Basketball and Business Operations, Cleveland Cavaliers Jaylon Tyson, Forward, Cleveland Cavaliers Joe Haden, Former Cornerback, Cleveland Browns Josh Cribbs, Former Return Specialist and Wide Receiver, Cleveland Browns Kenny Atkinson, Head Coach, Cleveland Cavaliers Koby Altman, President of Basketball Operations, Cleveland Cavaliers Michael Sirpilla, CEO, Society Brands Miles Bridges, Forward, Charlotte Hornets Remy Murrey, Reporter, News 5 Cleveland Rich Paul, CEO, Klutch Sports Group Ricky Smith (aka Rickonia), Cleveland Personality Rumor Rell, Influencer Entertainer Shontel Brown, Member of U.S. House of Representatives Talen Horton-Tucker, Guard, NBA Free Agent Tristan Thompson, Center, NBA Free Agent The stadium is the home of the Lake County Captains, the Cleveland Guardians’ High-A minor league affiliate. Important trade stalls as Maple Leafs dangle bottom-six forward

Important trade stalls as Maple Leafs dangle bottom-six forward

The Toronto Maple Leafs are still looking for a solution to their bottom-six surplus, and veteran forward Calle Jarnkrok remains at the center of trade discussions. However, according to The Fourth Period, trade talks surrounding the 33-year-old winger have failed to gain momentum. They write: “He has a $2.1M cap hit and owns a 10-team no-trade list. The market hasn’t been vibrant, to this point, but the Leafs will continue to dangle him.” Why can’t the Maple Leafs find a taker for Jarnkrok? Jarnkrok has quietly been on the trade block for much of the offseason, but general manager Brad Treliving has yet to find a taker. After adding several depth forwards this summer, the Leafs now face a crowded bottom six — and Jarnkrok’s age, injury history and $2.1M cap hit through 2025–26 aren’t helping his value. Since joining Toronto, Jarnkrok has appeared in only 71 games over two seasons, scoring a modest 28 points. While his defensive versatility and penalty-killing ability are assets, his declining offensive production and durability concerns have made teams wary. With training camp approaching, the Maple Leafs may be forced to keep Jarnkrok on the roster — or retain salary in a deal — if they want to create space and flexibility. Dropping his cap hit down to just over $1M would open up the market a little. Until then, the Swedish forward remains a trade candidate in limbo. This isn’t great news as moving Jarnkrok from the roster is an important item on the team’s to-do list. Treliving would like more cap space, and with Jarnkrok and David Kampf both still on the roster, it hampers the GM’s ability to do other things.

Cause of death revealed for Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan died on Thursday morning after a medical episode at his home in Florida, and reports have revealed the cause of death for the wrestling legend. According to audio from Pinellas County Fire and EMS that was obtained by TMZ, medical personnel were dispatched to Hogan’s home in Clearwater for a cardiac arrest at 9:51 a.m. Thursday. Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, was treated by first responders before being taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hogan was 71. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com was also told by sources that Hogan suffered a “massive cardiac arrest.” There had been rumors in recent months that Hogan underwent a significant heart procedure, though his representatives denied that. Longtime radio personality Bubba The Love Sponge Clem, who was once friends with Hogan, claimed on his radio show in June that Hulk was in the hospital dealing with some sort of life-threatening condition. A rep for Hogan said at the time that Hulk had been receiving medical treatment to address lingering neck and back issues but was doing well. Hogan was arguably the most famous professional wrestler of all time. His popularity in the 1980s led to the rapid growth of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), which is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He also paved the way for pro wrestlers to go mainstream. Hogan leaves behind a complicated legacy. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. He was removed in 2015 over a scandal but reinstated again several years later. Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame a second time in 2020 as a member of the New World Order (NWO), which he joined in 1996 when he made a heel turn while wrestling in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). A six-time WWE Champion, Hogan remained a brand ambassador for the organization up until his death.

Packers rookie could miss time after suffering injury in training camp

The Green Bay Packers offense was dealt a bit of a blow early in training camp. Friday, third-round rookie wide receiver Savion Williams was a spectator for practice after suffering a concussion. Williams, chosen by the Packers with the No. 87 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, is aiming to climb the depth chart at a crowded wide receiver position this summer. At 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, Williams ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.48 seconds during the NFL Combine and has the profile of potentially becoming a reliable possession receiver and after-the-catch weapon for quarterback Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense. Reaching those benchmarks and climbing the depth chart will have to wait, though, as Williams works his way through the concussion protocol and back onto the field for practices during training camp and the preseason this summer.
