Kings’ DeMar DeRozan drawing trade interest from Clippers

If the Kings decide it is time to pivot and move veteran pieces, DeMar DeRozan is one name that could surface quickly.

And the Clippers have shown interest in the former All-Star if Sacramento makes him available, per Sam Amick of The Athletic.

DeRozan is making 24.75 million this season. Next year he is at 25.74 million, but only 10 million of that is guaranteed.

He could unlock more money by making the 2026 All-Star team or by the Kings winning the 2026 championship. Neither scenario seems realistic at the moment.

The Clippers could use the help. They have stumbled early and have been hit hard by injuries.

Kawhi Leonard returned Sunday. Bradley Beal is now out for the season with a fractured hip. The roster has been in scramble mode for most of the month.

Sacramento is dealing with its own issues. New head of basketball operations Scott Perry has avoided the word rebuild, but he has acknowledged the Kings need time to get headed in the right direction.

The mix has not looked right and the results showed it.

And as we relayed, DeRozan is not the only Kings name expected to surface ahead of the February 5 trade deadline.
