Monk has taken the league by storm in just two seasons in Sacramento, quickly becoming the league's most effective sixth man. Monk is averaging 15.8 points and 5.3 assists per game and is the heavy favorite to take home the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award, with -320 odds via FanDuel Sportsbook.
After passing Jackson's assist mark, Monk told reporters after Tuesday's game that he knew he would break the record as soon as he signed with the Kings:
“I told Bobby I was going to beat him. I told him that as soon as I signed. I told him I’m going to beat your record, Bobby. I’ve been here two seasons, too.” – Malik Monk on breaking Bobby Jackson’s record for assists by a reserve

Monk broke Jackson's record while only playing 140 games in a Sacramento uniform, 225 fewer games than Jackson. While Jackson was not known as a playmaker, the 2002-03 NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner set the mark for Monk to break.

Sacramento's star big man, Sabonis, has been as dominant as anyone else in the league this season, as 47 consecutive double-doubles is an incredible feat. Sabonis is now just seven double-doubles away from passing Kevin Love for the most consecutive double-doubles in NBA history.
Sabonis is averaging 20.1 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game, as the star center also leads the NBA in triple-doubles this season with 22, beating out superstars Nikola Jokic (21) and Luka Doncic (17).
The marks set by Monk and Sabonis on Tuesday will likely stand in the Kings' record books for years to come, but Sacramento needs to follow up their accolades with team success for any record to truly matter.
