It is set to be an interesting offseason for the Sacramento Kings as they have a key decision to make on whether they want to begin a rebuild or build around their star trio.

The Kings are coming off another disappointing season that saw them finish ninth in the Western Conference and miss the playoffs after losing to the Dallas Mavericks in the Play-In Tournament.

Now the Kings enter a crucial offseason as they try to turn their franchise around, which may require them to move on from Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan or Zach LaVine.

With this in mind, Sports Illustrated’s Rohan Raman recently came up with a blockbuster three-team trade that would land the Kings a young point guard and veteran center from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Sabonis with the Atlanta Hawks also being involved.

In the trade, Raman has the Kings receiving Deandre Ayton, Scoot Henderson, the No. 22 overall pick in 2025 via Atlanta and Portland’s 2029 unprotected first-round pick.

The Trail Blazers would receive Sabonis is return while the Hawks land Jake LaRavia via a sign-and-trade deal.

This would truly be a blockbuster move by the Kings, but one that does make sense for them to make.

With the Kings in desperate need of a point guard after trading De’Aaron Fox at the trade deadline, adding Henderson would fill their hole at the position while also giving them a young player to build around for the future.

Ayton would be able to replace Sabonis, though the former No. 1 overall pick has struggled with injuries and his numbers have dipped over the last few seasons.

Sacramento would also land two first-round picks in the deal, including one in the upcoming 2025 draft which they could use to add more young talent to their roster or package them in another deal.

Of course, it would be a tough decision to move on from Sabonis but the package the Kings would receive in return could help turn their franchise around after years of disappointment.
