Kings to 'monitor' legal process in domestic violence allegations against Richaun Holmes

The Sacramento Kings announced last week that center Richaun Holmes would miss the remainder of the season due to "personal reasons." The decision initially came with little explanation, but earlier this week, the Sacramento Bee published a story with allegations from Holmes' ex-wife, Allexis Holmes, of domestic violence and abusing their six-year-old son, according to court documents.

According to The Athletic, the report also stated that Allexis Holmes recently filed for a restraining order on behalf of their son.

On Wednesday night, the Kings issued a statement, saying that they will "monitor" the legal process in the domestic violence allegations against their 28-year-old big man.

"The entire Sacramento Kings organization would like to express our strong stance against any form of assault and domestic violence," the statement said. "We respect the legal process and will continue to monitor the situation closely."

When the Kings announced last week that Holmes would miss the remainder of the season, general manager Monte McNair described Holmes as a "core member of our team" that the organization looked forward to having back next season. The Bowling Green product signed a four-year deal in the offseason and was the Sacramento's starting center until the Kings traded for two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis in early February.
