The New York Knicks are still riding high on their NBA championship win, but as with any title-winning team, they had to make some difficult choices as soon as the confetti fell to the floor.
The Knicks' toughest decision was letting backup center Mitchell Robinson walk. He ended up signing a three-year, $47.4 million deal with the Boston Celtics. It was all about dollars and cents, and the Knicks just couldn't pay up to match his contract.
But the Knicks aren't letting everyone walk. They know that they can't. On Thursday, the Knicks signed a player who should make New York and, yes, Jalen Brunson smile.
The Knicks have re-signed Jordan Clarkson. New York has officially brought back the talented shooting guard and point guard, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
"Free agent Jordan Clarkson has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million deal to return to the New York Knicks, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and agent Brandon Cavanaugh tell ESPN," Charania stated on X.
So, why should Brunson be all smiles with this signing? It's for a few reasons. For one, Clarkson was a big support for Brunson during the team's postseason. He helped Brunson and the team during the regular season, too. He played in 72 regular-season games and averaged 8.6 points per game. In short, Clarkson came off the bench to help in the team's time of need.
The Knicks knew they had to do this. So, they knew they had to lock Clarkson in. It's a one-year deal, which gives them some flexibility, as it does Clarkson. It's a win-win for both parties.
