It was a great season for the New York Knicks as they finished third in the Eastern Conference and made their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2000.
Unfortunately for New York, they fell two games shy of reaching the NBA Finals as they lost to the Indiana Pacers in six games.
After their playoff exit, the Knicks made the shocking decision to fire head coach Tom Thibodeau and they have a crucial coaching search as they begin the offseason.
With the Knicks already making a massive move in firing Thibodeau, more change could be coming this offseason regarding their roster.
Of course, some of the Knicks’ stars struggled in the playoffs, like Karl-Anthony Towns, and they have been brought up in trade rumors.
New York has also been linked as a potential trade destination for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant and while there have been reports that the Knicks are not targeting the future Hall of Famer, former NBA player Marcus Morris believes that they should.
“They will walk to the championship,” Morris said on Thursday about if the Knicks acquire Durant this summer.

This is a bold take by Morris, especially with what the Knicks would likely have to include in a trade package to send to Phoenix.
For the Knicks to match Durant’s salary, they would either have to build a trade package centered around Towns, Mikal Bridges or OG Anunoby along with other players.
With the Knicks likely having to move on from one or multiple of their key starters, it may be better for them to hold off on an aging Durant and run it back with their current core.
If New York does decide to go after Durant, it would give them another reliable scoring option next to Jalen Brunson but it would be a massive risk due to Durant’s injury history and him being in the latter part of his career.
